‘Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’ Is Finally Happening

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is finally in development after years of leaks, domain registrations and cryptic non-denials. Ubisoft confirmed the game is in development through a franchise blog post rather than a flashy reveal, which is very on-brand for Ubisoft.

A blog post titled “Assassin’s Creed: Into 2026” was fronted by the new Head of Content, Jean Guesdon, and included concept art of Edward Kenway and the cryptic line “some whispers have a little more wind in their sails.” Keep your spyglass on the horizon.” There is no release date or gameplay in the informal announcement.

Fans have been following clues about the project for months, piecing them together. Matt Ryan, the voice actor for Kenway, dropped a hint in June 2025 that something was in the works; the title emerged from a PEGI ratings board listing, and a Ubisoft shell company registered the Black Flag Resynced domain in January 2026. Once Ubisoft confirmed it, many fans already knew, making it one of the worst-kept secrets in gaming.

The gameplay in Resynced will go beyond what fans might have imagined as a simple remastered version of the game. It appears that Resynced will be an almost complete remake of the original 2013 version of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, with significant changes to visuals and gameplay, bringing it closer to the standards of newer Assassin’s Creed titles.

Leaks indicate that Resynced will include RPG progression options, new story content, additional world activities, and, quite importantly, remove the modern-day segments that many fans of the original had issues with. The first full look at Resynced is reportedly scheduled for April 2026, and it will likely hit stores this summer (July-August).

Black Flag remains one of the most cherished entries in the franchise, and a full reveal is coming soon. For now, fans will have to keep an eye out for more leaks and hints.
