Become Your Own Hero in ‘Halo Infinite’s’ New Multiplayer Season

Halo Infinite’s “Heroes of Reach” bids farewell to the original first-person game mode, introducing the multiplayer season never seen before.

“For me, it boils down to the tight arena-style combat and big team battle, this wide-open vehicle-infused kind of combat,” Joseph Staten, Head of Creative, said of the upcoming multiplayer experiences. The new season will also pass down the symbolic elements of the previous Halo series. “We’re taking that awesome legacy or classic Halo combat experience and modernizing it in ways that will feel fresh to old players and really exciting to new players,” he said.

The battle in “Heroes of Reach” will also be more intimate through armor, weapons and vehicle customization. Instead of receiving random settings from the system, you can build the battle suit based on your preference and fight as if you were the in-game character. Your virtual self will be even more reflective of your persona as the appearance and voice are also available for customization.

Contentwise, your personalized character will be one of the heroes standing beside the Master Chief. Most of us have known this hero since 2001, with the launch of Halo: Combat Evolved, and even until now, his stories continue to unveil with the ongoing chapters. And as a hero like the Master Chief, the character you build will hold as much significance as him. “At the center of our plans is a goal to deeply root your Multiplayer character in the larger Halo universe and give them a vital, active role in the Halo story moving forward,” Staten commented on the Halo blog.

How exactly the developer team is going to achieve this is still a secret, but Staten has promised that the hype he built up will not be a shallow advertisement. “We picked ‘Heroes of Reach’ as a Seasonal theme for very specific reasons: Reach has a rich history,” he said. “It’s a key location for Spartans of old and a focal point for a new generation of Spartans preparing to wrestle with the perils and mysteries of a galaxy that has fundamentally changed after the events of Halo 5.

It would be thrilling to see how “Heroes of Reach” features new in-game elements as well as how it ties to the narrative arc.
