Mewtwo is one of the most iconic and popular Pokémon of all time, starring in no less than four feature-length films. The next is a CG remake of Pokémon: The First Movie, one of the series’ most successful cinematic endeavors, which will be released in Japan later this month. Smartphone sensation Pokémon GO has had tie-ins with other Pokémon projects – including Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, the most recent film – and it just announced a crossover with the next one:
One of the seemingly few liberties Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution took is redesigning the Psychic-type’s armor, which he donned for a portion of the film. Soon, Trainers will be able to catch a Mewtwo wearing this spikier attire in Pokémon GO, where he will appear as a five-star raid opponent.
According to The Pokémon Company, the legend will appear in GO “from July 10 at 1:00 p.m. PDT to July 31 at 1 p.m. PDT.” Cosmetics honoring Armored Mewtwo will accompany his arrival in the shop too.
