CD Project Red Head Adam Badowski Responds To Report Of ‘Mandatory Crunch’ For ‘Cyberpunk 2077’

Cyberpunk 2077 is about a month and a half away from release, and CD Project Red will be going into overtime to complete it before its release date. In a report from Bloomberg, CD Projekt Red studio head Adam Badowski sent out an email to staff discussing the decision to use a mandatory crunch to finish Cyberpunk 2077.

The email reads, “I take it upon myself to receive the full backlash for the decision. I know this is in direct opposition to what we’ve said about crunch. It’s also in direct opposition to what we’ve said about crunch. It’s also in direct opposition to what I personally grew to believe a while back — that crunch should never be the answer. But we’ve extended all other possible means of navigating the situation.”

Last week, Badowski took to Twitter to respond to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schrier and released a statement explaining the decision for the team partaking in a mandatory crunch.

Over the past few years, many studios have been accused of partaking in crunch time, forcing employees to work overtime. Some studios that have relied heavily on this practice include Naughty Dog, Rockstar Games, EA, Epic Games and many more.

Cyberpunk 2077 will arrive on current-gen consoles on November 19, with next-gen versions arriving sometime in 2021.
