Manchester's Mason Greenwood (Image: Instagram)
Mason Greenwood, a famed soccer player who played for the Manchester United Football Club, has been removed from FIFA 22 after he was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting and threatening to kill someone.
A woman posted photos, videos and voice recordings documenting the abuse she received on Instagram Sunday morning. The posts have since been removed.
The 20-year-old was suspended from playing or training with the club following the allegations.
EA was quick to respond to the situation by updating the active roster of players and removing Greenwood from all offline modes and removing him from appearing in Ultimate Team packs and Ultimate draft. Players who already owned Greenwood are still able to trade him in the in-game marketplace.
Greenwood’s in-game value jumped up as a result of the controversy, causing EA to freeze the price for him on all platforms.
The company has not made a statement on the future of his availability.
