Elon Musk Sets Up Gaming PC At His DOGE Office – And Gamers Say It Looks Lame

Shortly after being busted by the gaming community for cheating in games such as Diablo IV and Path of Exile 2, Elon Musk set up a gaming PC in the White House, which gave already annoyed gamers the opportunity to rate his set-up.

After being appointed by President Donald Trump to be a leading figure in the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Musk was given an office space in the White House. Originally, his office was going to be in the West Wing, but after finding the space was little more than a “hovel,” Musk opted for a larger office. He settled for the next building over and set up in the Secretary of War Suite in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

It was there that the world’s richest man arranged the world’s most basic gaming PC set-up at his desk. Based on a picture provided by The New York Times, the desk holds one enormous curved monitor alongside a very basic looking keyboard and mouse, both of which are wired. The PC itself is resting on the floor underneath the desk. The only other furnishings to be found are a large plaque that reads “D.O.G.E” and a red “Make America Great Again” cap.

Of course, many gamers were quick to judge this set-up seeing as it was obviously put together with little effort and perhaps only to submit a picture to The New York Times. In any case, gamers are having a field day pointing out the utter neglect of cable management, the cheap keyboard and mouse looking completely out-of-place next to an expensive monitor and, worst of all, no mousepad in sight.

Gaming PC experts quickly identified Musk’s goliath monitor as a 49-inch Samsung Odyssey G9 dual-QHD, likely costing around $1,300. The GPU looks to be either an RTX 4060 or RTX 4070, though because of the angle of the image, there is no way to know for sure.

There’s something deeply ironic about a gaming PC being set up at an office of the Department of Government Efficiency, but maybe the PC is just for show. After all, we know that Musk has other means of progressing in video games without actually playing them.
