Everything Announced At Nintendo’s Mario Direct: ‘Super Mario 3D All-Stars’ & More!

It’s Mario’s 35th birthday, and Nintendo is bringing a HUGE library of titles and gifts to celebrate everyone’s favorite plumber. Today, Nintendo had another one of its surprise directs and focused on a laundry list of Mario games coming to the Nintendo Switch. The biggest of these was the Super Mario 3D All-Stars. This collection contains 3 of Mario’s biggest adventures: Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy are all coming to the Nintendo Switch in one package. Additionally, these games will now run in HD, with a 16:9 display, and you’ll be able to listen to the soundtracks for all three titles. It all makes for one big collection… but there’s a catch.

Unlike other Mario games that you can purchase at any storefront at any time, Super Mario 3D All-Stars will only be available for a limited time from September 18 to March 1.

Alongside the release of 3D All-Stars, a plethora of other Mario games will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. The Super Mario All-Star’s Collection, 16-Bit remakes of the first three Super Mario Brother’s games released for the Super NES, is now available for those who are subscribed to Nintendo Online. Not only that, but a new 35-Player Battle Royale version of the original Super Mario Brothers is also available for free, allowing you to compete with 35-Players to speed-run through levels of the NES classic. There will also be a unique Game-and-Watch device that will contain Super Mario Brothers and the Lost Levels that’s set for release on November 13.

But, the news doesn’t stop there. Super Mario 3D World, released for the Nintendo Wii U, will be making its way over to the Nintendo Switch in February, with new content called “Bowser’s Fury,” and two new Amiibo’s based on Cat-Mario and Cat-Peach.

Finally, Nintendo revealed a load of new merchandise and cross-overs with its other properties in the coming months. From collectible pins, a New AR Mario Kart toy, and content and challenges coming to Animal Crossing, Splatoon 2, and Super Smash Brothers: Ultimate, that’s a lot of Mario for your buck. Here’s to another 35 years of Super Mario Brothers. Now, go and do the Mario.
