‘Ghost Of Tsushima’ Will Be An Amazing Open-World Samurai Game

If Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and the Assassains Creed series had a baby, that game would be Ghost of Tsushima. The game was announced during Sony’s E3 in 2018. Ghosts will be production company Sucker Punch Production’s first game since 2014, when the company released the final game to their Infamous series.

The plotline to this game uses real world history for its setting. The game takes place during the 1270s, when the Mongol Empire first began to invade Japan. As one of the few samurai still alive from the first wave of the Mongol’s invasion, Jin Sakai’s primary mission is to rid the Mongol presence on Tsushima Island, the last island that separates the Mongols from the Japanese mainland.

In the game, players will be thrown into a fictionalized Tsushima island. The map is massive, and contains lots of animal wildlife. Wolves may be seen in the wild, and they will act realistically, depending on how the player approaches or avoids the animal. Players will be also be able to listen to the rustling of trees’ leaves, hear the chirping of the birds and even the flow of water.

Sucker Punch Studios wanted to give players an incredibly realistic experience. No waypoints will be available, nor a map that’s usually available to players when they pause the game. The game was also originally recorded in only Japanese, but its production team made sure to include an English option.

Sony and Sucker Punch Studios made sure that they were going to craft the perfect game. The teams flew in Japanese cultural specialists, to help clarify what is appropriate to include in the game. For example, the game was going to include the names of real-life historical figures, but removed all resemblances because referencing historical figures in Japan can be offensive.

The companies’ Twitter Page also announced that their bundle will contain lots of goodies, and most every user on the website is thrilled.

Ghosts of Tsushima will be released on June 26, 2020 for PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
