Here’s What’s New For PS4 Update 7.00

Sony’s latest big firmware update, version 7.00 is now out for all PS4 users to download. Updating to the newest software version brings changes to parties and enhancements to remote play functionality. It also includes the debut of Android support for remote play.

PS4 Update 7.00 enhances party chats, as the number of players in one party has been increased from eight to 16. Sony also confirmed the audio quality and network connectivity has been improved. Additionally, Chat Transcription has been added exclusively to the U.S. for greater accessibility via the Second Screen app.  The feature allows you to convert English voice chat to text and entering text to have it read out loud for other party members.

Remote Play has been enhanced for Apple users and introduced for the first time for Android users. Those on Android need to run software version 5.0 or higher. Apple users must use iOS 13, iPad 13 or macOS Catalina to make use of Remote Play. The Dualshock 4 controller via Bluetooth for Remote Play can also be used for either mobile platform.
