‘Madden 22’ Details Released

June 7 gave players plenty of new insight into the upcoming Madden 22. EA dropped a trailer for the game, along with new features that will be included. The game was tagged with a release date of August 20 for Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.  The cover athletes were also revealed to be Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes. This makes them the first players to make multiple appearances on a Madden cover.

The 2022 installment of Madden touts a number of additional mechanics. A number of “Dynamic Gameday” features will be exclusive to the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

One notable addition will be a home-field advantage factor. This means that away teams will experience adverse effects when playing on the road. These effects, known as “M-Factors,” will be implemented for every team’s stadium.

The “Gameday momentum” feature will decide the advantages that home teams get. This system sees teams gain bonuses and upgrades if they start to play well at their home field. Each team will have its own unique perks for achieving this momentum, such as hiding the buttons for receivers and taking away the aiming ability for a kicker.

Keeping with the theme of realism, Madden will utilize real-world stats and trends to adjust the playstyle of certain teams. This means that teams who are run-focused will mainly run the ball in the game. If they start to pass increasingly, however, this change will be reflected. The formations and defenses that teams tend to run will also be reflected in Madden 22.

EA also introduced a coaching tree for the franchise mode. This will allow players to hire offensive coordinators, defensive coordinators and other specialists. Players will be able to upgrade these coaches through the coaching tree. Franchise mode will also see the addition of over 30 new scenarios. These are brief storytelling moments that will add a more dynamic narrative to the mode.

EA will look to make a comeback with Madden 22 after fans were heavily disappointed by the buggy and stale Madden 21.
