‘Mario + Rabbids’ Sequel Will Be Released In 2022

The Mario and Rabbids franchises first combined in Kingdom Battle in 2017. Clearly, the mixed universe and unique gameplay have achieved success, so favored by fans that they beg for more adventures of this crossover. And after four years, Ubisoft officially confirmed a sequel last Saturday. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is coming in 2022, with a new cinematic trailer and sneak peek following the surprise.

Do you still remember the gigantic vortex transporting all the crazy Rabbids to the Mushroom Kingdom in Kingdom Battle? In the sequel, you will venture beyond the once-familiar land, and journey from planets to galaxies.

In Sparks of Hope, the order of the universe is compromised by the new antagonist Cursa, whose insatiable desire urges him to conquer the universe. Along the way, it wants to consume the mysterious Sparks—uncanny and powerful creatures formed by the fusion of Lumas and Rabbids—and threatens to destroy all who stand in its way.

Fans are expected to see a lot of familiarity with the gameplay experience. The in-game combat is still built upon the well-received turn-based system, with great freedom and flexibility that cater to your own strategy. Additionally, Sparks of Hope infuses a brand-new Sparks system into the gameplay. Along your journey in the galaxy, you’ll protect and collect different Sparks, which individually possess unique abilities that offer the upper hand in combat.

With all the transparent information, one thing that is still veiled by mystery is the option of heroes. On the official site for Sparks of Hope, Ubisoft has revealed that there will be nine heroes joining the battle, but currently, only Mario, Rabbid Peach and Rabbid Rosalina are confirmed. Although we can expect that the sequel will share the same hero options as the original, Kindom Battle only provides eight hero options throughout the game, meaning that no matter what, there will at least be one brand-new hero joining Sparks of Hopes.

The pre-order is now available.
