While Konami may not be making as many games as they did in the ’90s and 2000s, they still have some of the most recognized IP’s in the industry. Two of these beloved properties include the Castlevania and Metal Gear franchises. Despite their popularity, the gaming world hasn’t seen a new installment in either franchise for years now. No new game in the Castlevania franchise has been released since 2014’s polarizing Lord’s of Shadow 2, and Metal Gear hasn’t seen a new game since 2017’s critically panned and commercial flop Metal Gear Survive.
But recently, after Gematsu recently spotted a few listings over on The Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee, the original Metal Gear game, as well as Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2, arrived on GOG.com last week. While MGS 5 and Survive were released on PC, this will be the first time some of the earlier MGS games in the series are playable on PC. Metal Gear is priced at $5.99, while MGS 1 and 2 are $9.99 apiece.
Not only has Metal Gear launched on GOG, but Castlevania and Contra have also made the jump to PC, in the form of the Konami Collector’s Series. This collection contains Castlevania 1 – 3, the original Contra, and its sequel, Super C. The best part is that the collection will only cost $5.99
