Monster Hunters, I’m sure you’ve been enjoying the franchise on the Nintendo 3DS family of handhelds. Well, Capcom’s popular IP is about to migrate to the Nintendo Switch via a re-release of Monster Hunter XX.
The announcement happened through Capcom’s Japanese website for XX. Moreover, this re-release will enjoy an elongated title: Monster Hunter XX – Nintendo Switch Ver.
Monster Hunter XX was originally announced for the Nintendo 3DS last year in a Monster Hunter-themed Nintendo Direct. XX was a continuation from the prior 3DS title, Monster Hunter Generations, which our own Sean Fahey enjoyed. XX, however, added its own contributions to Generations’ template, including two new styles. Moreover, fans had the ability to import their progress from Generations.
Capcom unveiled a trailer and new details at their annual Monster Hunter Championship, which Gematsu translated. Notably, the Switch’s rendition of XX will offer compatibility with the Nintendo 3DS original, with save data being transferable.
Monster Hunter XX – Nintendo Switch Ver. will launch in Japan on August 25, with special bundles planned. As of this writing, there’s no confirmation of an international release. However, with E3 next month, we might receive word on a localization then.
By the way, this Monster Hunter reissue isn’t related to Capcom’s unrevealed major project.
