Assassin's Creed
With video game adaptations on the rise, it makes sense that Netflix would team up with Ubisoft to create a series based on the best-selling franchise, Assassin’s Creed. Last week, the streaming giant announced on one of its many social media accounts that they would be producing a live-action TV series based on the popular video game franchise. But, this show is just one of many projects in the works.
In a press release sent out to various outlets, the company revealed that “Netflix and Ubisoft will tap into the iconic video game’s trove of dynamic stories with global mass appeal for adaptations of live-action, animated, and anime series.” The first of these will be “an epic, genre-bending live-action adaptation.” While Netflix is looking for a showrunner for this first project, Ubisoft Film & Television’s Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik will serve as executive producers for the series.
“For more than 10 years, millions of fans around the world have helped shape the Assassin’s Creed brand into an iconic franchise,” Altman said in a press release. “We’re thrilled to create an Assassin’s Creed series with Netflix, and we look forward to developing the next saga in the Assassin’s Creed universe.”
The Assassin’s Creed series’ last live-action adaptation was the Assassin’s Creed movie released in 2016.
