'The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time'
Fans in Japan who pre-order the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake have plenty of collectibles to choose from, but U.S. players are mostly left out.
According to the Japanese gaming outlet Famitsu, Nintendo has revealed 15 retailer-specific pre-order bonuses for the Nintendo Switch 2 remake. Each participating store is offering a different item, so the bonus fans receive depends entirely on where they place their order.
The lineup ranges from small trinkets to display pieces. The most elaborate item comes from Rakuten Books, which is offering a display set with a wooden diorama stand and a cleaning cloth. Animate is offering three double-sided triangular acrylic coaster stands, while Amazon Japan is giving away a single acrylic coaster.
Other stores are leaning toward everyday accessories. Ito-Yokado is offering a jute and canvas tote bag, Seven Net is giving away an acrylic smartphone stand, and AmiAmi has a pass holder. Electronics chain Nojima is offering a paper tissue box cover.
Charms, badges and stickers round out the list. GEO is offering a two-part acrylic charm, MrMax has a set of three acrylic charms, and AEON Style Online is giving away a pair of domed pin badges. Otakara Souko Group is offering a button badge, Joshin has two die-cut stickers packaged in a kraft-paper envelope, and Yamada Denki Group is giving away character stickers. Gamers is offering an acrylic stand featuring the game’s logo, and WonderGOO has an acrylic figure.
In addition to the store-specific items, the Japanese physical release includes two early-purchase bonuses: a set of art cards from the original Ocarina of Time and a Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary sticker. Those extras are available in limited quantities.
All 15 retailer bonuses are Japan-exclusive, and no comparable U.S. pre-order items have been announced. Fans outside Japan would need to check whether individual listings offer international shipping.
The only U.S. extra so far is a limited-edition physical version with a textured gold foil cover, available at select retailers while supplies last. Vice reported that many stores have already sold out of it.
Nintendo first announced the remake during a Nintendo Direct on June 9 and gave fans an extended look at gameplay during The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on Sept. 8.
The game launches Nov. 5 exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 and will not be available on the original Switch. It costs $59.99 digitally and $69.99 for a physical copy, following Nintendo’s policy of pricing Switch 2 physical releases $10 higher than their digital versions. Nintendo is also releasing a Zelda-themed Switch 2 console and accessories on Oct. 29.
The remake rebuilds the 1998 Nintendo 64 classic, widely regarded as one of the greatest video games ever made. Longtime Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma and Tears of the Kingdom director Hidemaro Fujibayashi produced it. Reported changes include a dedicated jump button, a roll-to-sprint mechanic and faster swimming.
