Oscar Isaac has been cast as Solid Snake in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Metal Gear Solid. Isaac is best known for his work in the Star Wars sequel trilogy as Poe Dameron and will be appearing as the titular character in the Moon Knight series that will release on Disney+. Previously, Solid Snake was portrayed by X-Men writer David Hayter, who voiced the character until Metal Gear Solid 5, where 24‘s Kiefer Sutherland portrayed him.
The Metal Gear Solid movie will have Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts at the helm. Derek Connolly, who has written Jurassic World and Kong: Skull Island, will pen the script for the film. Avi Arad, who is best known for producing every Spider-Man film since 2002, will act as the film’s producer. It is currently unknown if Metal Gear creator, Hideo Kojima, will have any involvement in the project.
Since 1987, Metal Gear has become one of the most recognized gaming franchises. The last game to be released in the series was 2018’s critical and financially disappointing Metal Gear Survive.
