PlayStation 5 News: Release Date, Price & Much More!

After months of waiting, speculating and having our patients tested, Sony has unveiled a load of information about the PS5, including its release date, pricing and what we’ll be playing at launch and beyond. It’s been a long time coming, but we’re glad to finally announce that the PS5 will launch on November 12 in North America, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand. Everyone else will have to wait till November 19 to get a system.

The Standard Console will start at $499 while the all-digital version will cost $399. Currently, the system has sold out from most stores, so keep an eye out for any updates for the next batch of orders from the retailer of your choice.

Along with the launch date, Sony showed off a few games you’ll be playing alongside the PS5 and beyond. The biggest showcase had to come from Spider-Man: Miles Morales, with new gameplay being revealed. You’ll be able to play it this holiday season for $49.99 for the base game. If you buy the $69.99 Ultimate version of the game, you’ll gain a remastered version of the PS4 Spider-Man game, running at native 4K at 60 FPS.

Following Spider-Man, Sony announced that Final Fantasy XVI is coming in 2022 exclusively to PS5, Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition will launch with new content on the PS5’s release, and Resident Evil Village got a new trailer. We even got some new gameplay at the Demon’s Souls remake, Deathloop, and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Sony also announced the PlayStation Plus Collection: A compilation of some of the best selling PS4 games that will receive free upgrades for PS5. Some of the games include God of War, Uncharted 4, The Last of Us Remastered, Batman: Arkham Knight, Final Fantasy XV, etc. If you’re subscribed to PlayStation Plus, you’ll get access to all these games for no additional price.

Finally, Sony ended its presentation by revealing that God of War II will be released in 2021.
