SEGA’s Puyo Puyo Tetris melds two of gaming’s most venerable puzzle franchises together, and it’s become a welcome addition to the Nintendo 3DS, Switch and PlayStation 4 libraries. However, the content-packed crossover will soon join a fourth platform: PC.
SEGA’s no stranger to Steam, releasing new titles on Vavle’s storefront like last year’s Sonic Forces and Sonic Mania, as well as older titles like Bayonetta and Binary Domain. In fact, the company hinted at Puyo Puyo Tetris’s impending Steam release yesterday in both games’ respective communities.
Puyo Puyo Tetris offers four gameplay styles: standard Tetris gameplay, standard Puyo Puyo gameplay, a mode that alternates between them, and a mode that combines aspects of both into one unique style. A story mode is included that helps teach players the basic mechanics for all four, and players who want to fine-tune their mastery can play endurance runs, against computer players or with up to four friends. Players can play online too, both competitively or just for fun.
If you’d like to partake in the festivities, Puyo Puyo Tetris will launch on Steam on February 27. $19.99 is the game’s default price, although it can be pre-ordered for $17.99. Furthermore, pre-purchasing the game will grant you exclusive desktop wallpapers and avatars.
