‘Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart’ Won’t Be Released On PS4

The PS5 will have plenty of exclusive games released on PS4. With Sony’s newest system sold out just about everywhere, with word that stores may not receive any more until 2021, Sony is making sure that you’ll have the ability to transition from PS4 to PS5 at your own pace. Sony is offering a free PS5 version of games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon: Forbidden West and Sackboy: A Big Adventure if you buy them on PS4.

However, not every game will be available on both PS4 and PS5, with the upcoming Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart staying exclusively on PS5. When responding to a question regarding its availability on PS4, Insomniac Games confirmed that Rift Apart would only be available on PS5.

The upcoming Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is just one of many titles that will take full advantage of the PS5’s SSD card. This powerful device allows developers to nearly remove loading from their games and lets gamers get into the game without much in the way of load times. Insomniac has stated that this will allow Ratchet and Clank to traverse through worlds without the need for ship travel to mask loading when transitioning from different planets. Seeing that the PS4 doesn’t have SSD technology, it would be incredibly difficult to have Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart running on the last-gen system.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart will arrive on PS5 sometime after the console launches, but an official release date has not been revealed.
