All ye worthy pull up a chair and let us reminisce of a golden age. There was a game console, a swan song, a magnum opus, but a tragedy all the same. The Sega Dreamcast was the short-lived, but eternal wonder-system that captivated the collective gamers’ mind with legendary games like Eternal Arcadia, Shenmue 1 & 2, Sonic Adventure 2, Grandia 2, and the list could frankly go on forever, but let’s get to the point: one game that never have made it to the Dreamcast’s library was a cancelled Castlevania game recently uncovered by archivists.
One of the premier websites detailing Sega Dreamcast history and developments, Sega Dreamcast Info, recently showed off an internal prototype for a Castlevania Dreamcast game that never made its way out of internal review. The ROM and all recovered files are now accessible on Archive.org. The game’s title would have been Castlevania Resurrection, or as the French writers on Sega Dreamcast Info write it, “Ressurection.”
Resurrection would be set to follow Sonia Belmont and a new character created for the game, Victor Belmont. Don’t confuse Victor with Rictor Belmont from Castlevania: Rondo Of Blood, that would be ridiculous.
Very little info about Resurrection ever left Konami’s office, but the prototype rom gives unique insight into the game that never was on the system that ought to have been.
