Steam Deck OLED Handheld Game Console (Image: Valve)
The good news is that on May 27, Valve announced on its site that the Steam Deck OLED was available for widespread purchase again for the first time since February.
It sold out immediately, but now supplies have been replenished.
Even with the current RAM and storage shortages, the price has risen to $1164.
Regardless, the Steam Deck still made the top of Steam’s Top Sellers list in that 24-hour period.
The Steam Deck page on the Steam store website specifically notes that the “Steam Deck OLED may be out-of-stock intermittently in some regions due to memory and storage shortages.”
Fans theorize that this intermittent period could last longer than expected because Valve announced it would launch the Steam Machine this year. One fan, @SadlyItsBradley on X, posted that “Valve is receiving a ton of ‘Game Consoles’ these past couple weeks in their USA distribution warehouse….” They replied to their own post with a screenshot of a spreadsheet documenting shipments from China that were imported by the Valve Corporation in the U.S.
