Super Mario Maker 2, while still one of the Nintendo Switch‘s most anticipated 2019 releases, initially planned to limit who players could play its online multiplayer with.
Per Nintendo’s original vision, the online modes would only allow users to play with strangers, not their friends. It was a decision many were disappointed with. However, it appears Nintendo heard players’ concerns and will amend this through an update that will come after the game launches. Game director Takashi Tezuka addressed the news on Tuesday during an E3 stream with the Nintendo Treehouse:
Super Mario Maker 2 is slated to arrive on June 28. It’s currently unknown when this update will release, but it’s nice Nintendo was willing to respond to feedback and course correct Maker 2‘s online component.
