‘Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD’ Scores A Bonus Character [SPOILERS]

Some of SEGA‘s dormant IPs have been enjoying some revitalization, with next month’s Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD being one such effort. According to its reveal last month, the arcade-esque ball roller will hit all four modern platforms of note and will feature control setups tailored to each of them. According to its Xbox One Achievement List, which was published yesterday by Exophase.com, a bonus character is joining the fray, and it’s someone all SEGA fans should be well-aquatinted with: Sonic the Hedgehog.

Two of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD‘s Achievements pertain to Sonic; “Way Past Cool” simply requires the player to finish a stage as the Blue Blur while “Monkey Business” requires one to change every character’s costume except for Sonic. Given Sonic’s exclusion from that, perhaps he won’t have any alternate costumes?

Series protagonist AiAi has met Sonic through several crossover games, such as the SEGA Superstar series and the SEGA Heroes mobile title. However, this is the first time Sonic’s appeared in Super Monkey Ball proper. Hey, if it helps sell Banana Blitz HD, I’m fine with a harmless crossover.
