A brand new Terminator game in 2025 might seem a little out of place, but just wait until you see the trailer.
On Feb. 27, the developer Bitmap Bureau announced their newest game, Terminator 2D: No Fate. As you might guess, the game is directly inspired by the classic film, Terminator 2: Judgement Day. This game is officially licensed and will be coming to Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC later this year on Sept. 25.
Taking inspiration from the generation the game is based on, Terminator 2D: No Fate is an action side-scroller game with retro graphics and all. Bitmap Bureau is known for producing retro style bangers like Xeno Crisis and Final Vendetta, so this game is definitely in good hands.
Looking at the trailer alone, it’s clear that this 2025 take on Terminator 2 is going to do justice to the iconic franchise with incredible modern pixel graphics complete with all the bright colors and details that weren’t quite there in old 90s games.
The story in Terminator 2D: No Fate is going to be almost the same as the film it’s based on but with new moments that were not in the movie and the addition of multiple endings. Fans will be able to play as Arnold Schwarzenegger’s iconic T-800 as well as Sarah Connor throughout the game as you take on the T-1000 to save humanity. Based on the trailer’s description, it seems you’ll have the chance to play as John Connor too as he leads a Resistance in the future.
This game is looking stunning so far and overall seems like it will shape up to be a super fun side-scroller sure to leave you feeling nostalgic.
