The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening for the Switch by Grezzo (Nintendo)
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask is experiencing a glitch recurrence. One specific glitch that allows players to re-write memory values has allowed speedrunners to achieve a Holy Grail trick and warp to the moon. If you do it correctly, you can even warp behind the scenes.
Seedborn on YouTube explained in detail the method for warping – like the moon warp trick previously, which fundamentally changed speedruns for the game. This glitch was first uncovered in Ocarina of Time and it’s possible to change what a players find in treasure chests. If done correctly, it can also change where players spawn when entering a new area. Basically, it is possible to produce arbitrary steps to change the values in the games memory. Jump at a specific point and move a rupee to a certain place and next thing you know, you are figuring out how to warp anything in the game. At least in theory.
This new version of the glitch involves the Japanese variation of the game and can be done consoles. It consists of moving a rupee outside of the Deku Palace. After a few more moves getting grabbed by a wander guard doesn’t kick Link out of the Deku palace as it usually does – instead now it warps him to a developer testing space.
The room is full with fascinating pieces which includes ladders, a block puzzle, an area for swimming and crawl spaces. The latter does not always seem to appear in the rest of Majora’s Mask. If players want to break through towards behind the scenes of the game and happen to have the Japanese copy of the game, then it is possible to perform the random steps and explore inside the game designer’s hideout.
