Ubisoft Releases ‘Assassin’s Creed Infinity’ Details

Ubisoft has confirmed that a new project codenamed Assassin’s Creed Infinity is in the works. This breakthrough was announced in a post to Ubisoft’s Website on July 7 after Bloomberg leaked the story earlier in the day. Ubisoft Quebec managing director Nathalie Bouchard and Ubisoft Montreal managing director Christopher Derennes co-authored the post.

This new Assassin’s Creed installment will feature a “collaborative, cross-studio structure between Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Quebec that will guide, grow, evolve and define the overall future of Assassin’s Creed,” according to the post.

Ubisoft’s post explained that the two studios would collaborate on aspects such as production and creative direction. Marc- Alexis Côté will lead this new partnership between studios. Côté was the creative director for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and senior producer on Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. He was also named the executive producer for the franchise as a whole.

Jonathan Dumont and Clint Hocking will split creative duties for this new collaboration. Dumont was the creative director for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Hocking is a Ubisoft veteran, as he first worked for Ubisoft Montreal in 2001 as a game designer and writer. Hocking has since served as the creative director for titles including Far Cry 2 and Watch Dogs: Legion.

Ubisoft explained that they “profoundly believe this is an opportunity for one of Ubisoft’s most beloved franchises to evolve in a more integrated and collaborative manner that’s less centered on studios and more focused on talent and leadership, no matter where they are within Ubisoft… While we know there’s always room for improvement, we believe this new structure allows us to ensure that diversity and representation within our teams continues to grow and match that of our players.”

Bloomberg also claimed that this new title would be a “live service game.” This means that it would receive constant updates, in a similar manner to Fortnite and Grand Theft Auto 5. This has not been confirmed by Ubisoft as of yet.
