WATCH: 'Monster Hunter' First Trailer Revealed
Paul W.S. Anderson has an “interesting” history with the world of gaming. After creating what many considered the first enjoyable video game movie in 1995’s Mortal Kombat, he’s had a hand in making all six Resident Evil movies. From 2002 to 2017, Anderson has written and produced every movie in the series, while directing the first film and all future installments since the fourth movie, Resident Evil: Afterlife, with his wife, Milla Jovovich, starring as series protagonist, Alice.
Despite grossing millions of dollars, the series has always rubbed critics and fans the wrong way, with many panning the films for their focus on action and having little to do with the source material. Now, Anderson is directing his next video game movie in Monster Hunter. Last week, the first trailer for the movie was release, and it sure is something.
Monster Hunter, another game series from Capcom, has Anderson casting wife, Jovovich, as the main protagonist Captain Natalie Artemis. After getting transported to another world, Artemis and her crew must team up with a hunter to survive and get back home. Joining Jovovich are martialist Tony Jaa, rapper Clifford “T.I” Harris and Hellboy star Ron Pearlman.
Monster Hunter is set to release in theaters on December 30.
