Xbox Games Pass Scores New Games In July, Including ‘Undertale’ & ‘Dead Rising 4’

Xbox Games Pass is about to remove and replace some of the games in its catalog, with some of the more noteworthy gains being Undertale, Middle-earth: Shadow of War and Dead Rising 4.

Games coming to Xbox Game Pass this month:

July 4

  • Middle-earth: Shadow of War (Xbox Game Pass for Console, Xbox Game Pass for PC, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate)
  • My Time at Portia (Xbox Game Pass for Console, Xbox Game Pass for PC, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate)
  • Undertale (Xbox Game Pass for PC, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate)

July 11

  • Blazing Chrome (Xbox Game Pass for Console, Xbox Game Pass for PC, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate)
  • Dead Rising 4 (Xbox Game Pass for Console, Xbox Game Pass for PC, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate)
  • LEGO City Undercover (Xbox Game Pass for Console, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate)
  • Timespinner (Xbox Game Pass for PC, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate)
  • Unavowed (Xbox Game Pass for PC, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate)

Undertale is an acclaimed RPG that takes inspiration from Nintendo’s EarthBound series, and it’s been released on several platforms. Dead Rising 4, however, is a game I strongly disliked, as detailed in my review. Among other things, I derided it for being a disingenuous attempt at honoring the series’ history and for otherwise being a glitchy, slapdash game. Capcom Vancouver’s first (and most successful) crack at the series, Dead Rising 2, will leave the service at the end of the month; I suggest playing that instead.

Games leaving the Xbox Game Pass on consoles this month:

  • Aftercharge (July 9)
  • Warhammer Vermintide 2 (July 10)
  • LEGO Movie: The Videogame (July 16)
  • Dandara (July 31)
  • Dead Rising 2 (July 31)
  • Hitman Season 1 (July 31)
  • Metal Slug XX (July 31)
  • Defense Grid: The Awakening (July 31)
  • Hexic 2 (July 31)
  • Iron Brigade (July 31)

Additionally, those subscribed to Xbox Games Pass will be able to sample the Gears 5 versus mode this month. Quests are also being dolled out, rewarding players for enjoying games that include “Monster Hunter: WorldHollow KnightForza Horizon 4LEGO Batman and many, many more” titles.
