Still getting caught up with the E3 news, alongside CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077, Microsoft’s presser was one of the more captivating of the expo. Halo Infinite was announced during Microsoft’s conference, with multiple details being released regarding the next installment of the Halo series.
Sometime in 2020, Halo Infinite will have a beta for the first time in around 10 years for the franchise. The last time 343 supported a beta was for Halo Reach. Other details were released regarding the next installment in the Xbox juggernaut series, including Infinite having split-screen capability and LAN support. The recent release in the series, Halo 5, did not support split-screen gameplay.
The Halo Infinite beta “will start small and slowly expand out until release,” according to Gamerant. Meaning that the beta will most likely start with more exclusive users, and slowly start to expand to the public players as 343 will want to monitor how the game runs at the start with a low amount of traffic and slowly expand.
343 has also mentioned armor customization upgrades in the next installment, an exciting proclamation as Halo Reach introduced the idea, but with limited customization. During the E3 presser, we got a cinematic trailer that didn’t reveal too much of when and where Master Chief is heading story wise. Well, 343 recently released info that Halo Infinite’s story begins “some time after” the end of Halo 5, according to Gamespot.
With the next-gen consoles being hinted at, its likely that Halo Infinite will be released before the 2020 holidays and will be a launch title for the Xbox Project Scarlett. Following the end of Halo Infinite’s E3 presser, 343 said they will be going quiet until next year’s E3.
Other news from 343 includes black under suits will be in the game, disregarding the colored under suits from the last installment of the series.
Alongside the Xbox, the PC will also have a beta for Halo Infinite.
