6 Games To Look Out For From Sony’s First 2025 State Of Play

Sony recently hosted its first State of Play of the the year, and gamers everywhere will want to hear about this showcase. Although there was no announcement about massive console upgrades, there are a lot of promising titles coming this year to get excited for. Here’s a handful of the most anticipated titles that gamers are talking about.

Monster Hunter Wilds

Sony started their stream with the title that many fans, without a doubt, wanted to see the most: the next installment of the Monster Hunter series. The game looks as epic as ever with stunning graphics and plenty of new monsters to encounter. The trailer even teases an exclusive monster for the Spring 2025 free title update, Mizutsune. Monster Hunter Wilds releases on Feb. 28.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

This next installment of the Sonic the Hedgehog racing series looks like the most creative and fun one yet. As you may have guessed by the title, the tracks in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds take you through different destinations that you’d find across multiple Sonic games. Based on the trailer, it has a varied cast of playable characters and vehicles to choose from. Selected participants were able to playtest the beta version of the game from Feb. 22 to Feb. 24 and many players have already been chatting about their experience with it online.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

This game is a beautiful remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater from 2004. Seriously, the trailer makes you feel like you’re getting ready to watch a movie, that’s how good the animation and story looks. This remake is topped off with 3D audio in order to make the gameplay (and jungle ambiance) even more immersive. Altogether though, the story is the same with the addition of some added game modes on the side. Even the original voice cast is in on this project. The game releases later this year on Aug. 28.

MindsEye

Have you ever wondered what Grand Theft Auto would look like as a futuristic thriller? Maybe not, but that’s a very simplified way of describing MindsEye. Directed by Leslie Benzies, game producer and former president of Rockstar North, this game looks similar to GTA but the trailer shows us that it is truly in a league of its own. MindsEye takes place in a not-too-distant future setting where robotics and neural implants are just a part of daily life. This action-adventure is very story driven and, so far, the stakes seem high and the thrills intense.

Hell Is Us

Developed by Rogue Factor and published by Nacon, Hell Is Us is a third-person action-adventure game with a fresh story featuring post-war devastation and supernatural enemies. And swords, of course. The most interesting feature of this game is that there is no map or quest markers or anything to indicate direction. The path that you instinctively choose will become your own adventure that will likely look different from your friend’s playthrough. Hell Is Us is set to release on Sept. 4.

SAROS

Lastly, we reach SAROS, which was also the State of Play’s finale and it’s easy to see why. This game looks all at once mysterious, haunting and stunning as the cinematic trailer details the main character, Arjun Devraj, preparing to face an enormous, godlike enemy. Arjun is looking for someone and will not rest until he finds them. In the trailer, Arjun says “after every death, I always come back stronger,” which could make for a very interesting game mechanic if this is meant to be taken literally. SAROS is brought to us by Housemarque, which is a promising detail in itself, and will release in 2026.
