During this time of social distancing due to coronavirus, there have been very few opportunities for politicians to get in front of their supporters. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has seemed to find a solution to this problem.
Through playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Ocasio-Cortez has been dropping by players’ islands to say hello to players of the game.
Ocasio-Cortez had to get some help from her followers on Twitter, asking if anyone knew how she could leave a note to players on their islands.
She has since been chronicalizing her time playing the game on Twitter as well.
For Ocasio-Cortez, as well as other players, this experience has been really positive in these crazy times. “People are asking for surprise visits to their spouse’s islands!!” said Ocasio-Cortez. “This is the love everyone deserves.”
Ocasio-Cortez has not been the first celebrity to come out and say that they have been playing the popular Nintendo Switch game, as Brie Larson, Danny Trejo, and Elijah Wood have all admitted that they are playing.
