A couple of weeks ago, producers of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla announced the return of the hidden blade and the instant kill. Unlike in previous versions of the game, both of those features will be slightly different in Assassin’s Creed Valhaal, according to game developers.
In a video on Twitter, the game’s narrative director Darby McDevitt said that the change is something that was well thought out. “It is a deliberate decision. It’s something that Eivor feels very strongly about,” McDevitt said. “When he or she gets a hold of this hidden blade, it occurs to Eivor that it would be much more interesting to let people see this weapon, to be conspicuous about it. Vikings were known as having a sense of honor and it was very important that when you killed somebody, that you let people know that you killed them.”
In previous games, the hidden blade was an actual blade along the forearm of the players. In Valhalla, it is expected that regardless of a player’s level, the hidden blade will always instant kill.
