‘Baldur’s Gate 3’ Gets More Robust As Its Release Approaches

On July 7, Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios announced that the game’s first act has grown more stalwart. With a three-year early access period, the now looming release for the game shines brightly – for PC gamers will land on August 3, and PlayStation 5 owners can expect to enter the Forgotten Realms on September 6.

The Panel From Hell showcase encouraged players not to skip past the opening sequence. An additional third of dialog and story content has made its way onto the first act. Anyone who has already played may have a reason to take another look. This came along with a look into what your character could be at level 12. It also delved into a first glimpse at the monk class, the Half-orc and Dragonborn races. There was even a look into the final Origin character: Dark Urge.

The story NPCs’ reactions to your avatar have been changed. For example, player races like Dragonborn and Githyanki can face prejudice within the world of Baldur’s Gate 3. The world will pay more attention to the specifics of your forged character. This could cause early, in-game situations to play out differently. This level of detail could spell an even bigger victory for Larian Studios. This level of content being added to the rest of the game would be huge.

However, some have shown concern about anyone hailing Baldur’s Gate 3 as a new, “raised standard.”

Rebecca Harwick, the Grimlore Games senior narrative designer, also weighed in to caution the gaming community against believing that Baldur’s Gate 3 is possible with a much smaller team.

After a game production this long, and with a team that is over 400, the long list of expectations that accompanies the game is palpable. It is with hope that the gaming community can finally sit down and just play a game that they have been eagerly waiting for.

What kind of character will you create?
