‘Battlefield 2042’ Delayed By One Month

EA has announced that its upcoming shooter game Battlefield 2042 has been delayed by nearly a month. The game was originally intended to launch on Oct. 22 but was pushed back to Nov. 19.

“Building the next generation of Battlefield during a global pandemic has created unforeseen challenges for our development teams,” Oskar Gabrielson, the general manager of Dice said in a statement on the Battlefield Twitter account. “Given the scale and scope of the game, we had hoped our teams would be back in our studios together as we move towards launch. With the ongoing conditions not allowing that to happen safely, and with all the hard work the teams are doing from home, we feel it is important to take the extra time to deliver on the vision of Battlefield 2042 for our players.”

Dates for the BETA of the game have yet to be announced but will be revealed later this month according to the Twitter post.

Developers at EA took to Twitter after the delay announcement to assure fans that the game will be worth the wait, and the delay will help them make it the best it can be.

Battlefield 2042 has been one of many victims of delays in the COVID era of game development, with other big-name titles such as Halo Infinite and Horizon Forbidden West suffering similar fates.

Battlefield 2042 releases on Nov. 19 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
