Canceled ‘Battle Of Fallujah’ Game Revived 12 Years Later With New Developer

Konami publicly announced in 2009 they would be canceling their realistic first-person shooter based on the United States invasion of Iraq and the battle of Fallujah. Six Days In Fallujah was considered too controversial for the Japanese developer early in development, and scrapped. After lying dormant for almost 12 years, Victura and Highwire Games released a trailer to YouTube announcing the game’s revival.

Soon after the 2009 cancelation, a Konami spokesperson told Japan’s Asahi Daily News that, “After seeing the reaction to the video game in the United States and hearing opinions sent through phone calls and e-mail, we decided several days ago not to sell it.”

Publisher Victura wrote in a statement alongside the announcement trailer saying, “Six Days in Fallujah aims to be the most authentic military shooter to date and to tell these military and civilian stories with the integrity they deserve.”

Victura’s aim of authenticity shines through their trailer which features several soldiers and civilians involved in the real-life battles in Fallujah.
