CD Projekt Red, the developer of Cyberpunk 2077, recently announced that there are currently no plans for a Playstation 5 Pro update to the game.
Cyberpunk 2077 was a highly anticipated game since it was announced way back in 2012. Despite the game’s negative reception from disappointed fans when it was finally released in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 has since redeemed itself and has become a well loved game, earning a 9/10 rating on Steam.
Recently on X, one fan of the game was expressing their excitement over how amazing Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City would look on the Playstation 5 after a potential PS5 Pro update. Unfortunately for them and many other fans, CD Projekt Red replied to this user saying that “We currently have no plans for PS5 Pro patch.”
Though this is disappointing news for fans, no doubt, the lack of plans for a PS5 Pro patch is likely due to the studio being busy with other major upcoming projects. For example, CD Projekt Red is currently working on The Witcher 4 which is another highly anticipated title for fans of The Witcher series. On top of this, CD Projekt Red is also in an early planning stage for Cyberpunk 2.
It’s uncertain how much time and effort it would take CD Projekt Red to produce a PS5 Pro patch for Cyberpunk 2077 in order to take full advantage of the PS5 Pro’s higher PSSR standards for greater resolutions at greater framerates. Considering there have been some titles that have struggled with this so far, it stands to reason that the studio would be hesitant to jump on a PS5 Pro patch when they already have a lot on their plate.
