Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector is set to release on Jan. 31, and game developer Damian Martin hints that this may be the last Citizen Sleeper video game, but there’s more to come.
While discussing the upcoming release of Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, Martin shared in a recent interview with Eurogamer that, while this might be the last video game in the series, they have plans to turn the game into a TTRPG like the games that inspired the series. When asked about whether Citizen Sleeper 2 will wrap up the game’s story, Martin said, “I think it [does] for video games. I’ll leave myself a backdoor somewhere that I can climb through and dig it out the grave again.”
Martin went on to say that they are “really happy” with how the game ends, and they’re hoping that fans will feel the same way upon completing the sequel. “I think especially the ending – and I hope people feel this when they reach the ending – I really felt like, OK, this is me saying the final word on it.”
Fans of Citizen Sleeper should fear not though, Martin assures us that there is more to come for the sci-fi story. The game was developed with heavy inspiration from tabletop game mechanics such as clicks, dice rolls and narrative choices. With that in mind, Martin decided to bring the story of Citizen Sleeper to a “tabletop game in full.” They have not shared too many details thus far, but they said all they need now is “to find the right collaborator” to finish the job.
For now, fans should get ready for the next installment of the story as Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector comes to PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass on Jan. 31.
