Tuesday, June 29 saw Disney announce The Good, The Bar and The Loki. This short film will feature Tom Hiddleston as Loki alongside the classic characters from The Simpsons. The short film will release on July 7 for Disney Plus, accompanying the fifth installment in the Loki series.
Disney Plus dropped a tweet on June 30, featuring a poster for the film. This poster features Simpsons’ characters dressed up as Marvel superheroes. Lisa, for example, dons Thor’s Mjolnir and headgear while Ned Flanders appears to be dressed like Ant-Man. It seems to be modeled after the Avengers: Endgame poster.
The premise of the short seems to be that Loki has been ousted from Asgard, as per usual. His next opponents, however, are the residents of Springfield. To defeat his newfound foes, he joins forces with Homer Simpson.
The Simpsons have been involved in multiple crossovers since its existence. Throughout the show’s history, they have crossed paths with characters from other shows such as Futurama and Family Guy. Disney Plus also released a short called Maggie Simpson in ‘The Force Awakens from Its Nap’ on May 4 of 2021. This Star Wars crossover sees Homer’s daughter Maggie go “to a Star Wars themed daycare” where “she goes on a quest to get her pacifier whilst fighting against her nemesis, Gerald.”
The Loki series on Disney Plus has just released its fourth episode featuring Marvel’s mischievous god. The series was created by Michael Waldron and features actors Owen Wilson and Sophia Di Martino, along with many others. The Simpsons has tallied 32 seasons and aired over 700 episodes. The Simpsons was created by Matt Groening, who was also responsible for the Futurama TV series.
