Elon Musk Exposed For Lying About Prowess In ‘Path Of Exile 2’ – Then Violates His Own X Policies After Being Call Out On It

Billionaire Tesla CEO Elon Musk has caused controversy within the Path of Exile community after lying about his gaming prowess. This led to his removal from Path of Exile 2 and his violation of his own policies on X.

After Musk’s Path of Exile 2 account had taken the 15th spot on the game’s leaderboard and managed to complete “pinnacle content” multiple times after beginning the game less than a month ago, gamers began to reasonably wonder how the world’s richest man was able to make such progress in such little time. One well-known streamer, Asmongold, voiced his opinion on this, saying, “There’s no way he played that account… I think he bought the account or someone bought it for him.”

At one point, Musk posted on X about how he was effortlessly playing the game in real-time on an airplane via Starlink. However, one Redditor named Fraggu noticed that the account Musk was supposedly playing on linked to Hong Kong. At the same time, he was in the United States, which led to the assumption that a second party was involved who was making progress in the game for Musk. Another gamer, Screamheart, agreed with Asomngold’s theory and pointed out in a video that if Musk had actually been the one playing on this account, it would mean that he had “played thousands of maps at this point.”

Things became even more suspicious after Musk was kicked off of Path of Exile 2 for “performing too many actions too fast.” At this point, gamers were beginning to question the integrity of Musk’s progression in the game.

On Jan. 7, Musk livestreamed his gameplay on X where seasoned players of Path of Exile 2 noticed how “inexperienced” Musk seemed in the game for someone who had reached 15th on the leaderboard. Many viewers agreed that he was clearing areas “inefficiently,” and some noticed a tab in his game labeled “Elon’s map.”

After this stream, Asomngold spoke up again. “Did Elon Musk play this account to level 97? The answer is very simple: No. Unequivocally, without a doubt,” he said. He then humorously vowed that “If Elon Musk can prove that he played his account to 97, I will stream on X, starting the day that he proves it, for an entire year straight, every single stream.” Reddit users noticed that Musk had unfollowed Asmongold on X in response.

During a stream shortly after, Asmongold played a video that showed Musk commenting on the gaming controversy and saying that “the Chinese driver of my Path of Exile account” is named “Elon Ma, and he is amazing! I rely on him for everything.” Asmondgold responded to this clip: “The mystery has been solved… it’s been confirmed.”

Musk did not take well to this exposure and took to X posting, “Asmon behaves like a maverick ‘independent’ but in reality, has to ask his boss for permission before he can do anything.” This comment was paired with a screenshot Musk took of a private conversation between him and Asmongold that showed Asmongold saying he needed his editors’ permission.

Ironically, in sharing this screenshot, Musk broke his own platform’s policies. On X, it is prohibited to share “someone else’s private messages without their express authorization and permission.” Musk’s screenshots were flagged with a content warning as a result.
