After a long delay in construction Universal’s new theme park, Epic Universe, equipped with a Nintendo-themed resort park, has re-started construction again. Current estimates place the park’s new opening at 2025.
Universal announced the delay of Epic Universe in July 2020. The announcement was soon followed by Universal’s new Nintendo-themed park in Osaka, Japan which also delayed its opening.
“Restarting Epic Universe will result in hundreds of jobs within Universal and thousands of jobs across Central Florida. These positions include highly skilled professional positions, all levels of construction jobs and beyond,” said Brian Roberts, CEO of Comcast and Universal.
“We really want to get our community back working,” Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings said in an interview. “From construction workers to architects and engineers to others, there will be a tremendous opportunity here to get business and commerce back going and really insulate ourselves from a longer-term recovery from this recession.”
Demings told the Orlando Sentinel that Epic Universe’s new opening would be “early 2025.”
