Days after Sony announced the PlayStation Store would no longer offer television shows or movies, the company announced the return of a loved sale promotion, Essential Picks.
Starting March 3, gamers on PlayStation 4 and 5 will have access to a curated list of highly acclaimed games, now heavily discounted. The debut list shown on the PlayStation Blog is stunningly long, but among the titles are popular games like A Way Out, Code Vein, Detroit; Become Human, Final Fantasy VX Royal Pack, Monster Hunter: World, Overcooked, Until Dawn, and Watchdogs: Legion.
Associate Digital Promotions Manager at Sony Interactive Entertainment Peter Boda explained in the blog post that most of the games listed will be up to 60% off which is an unmatched bargain for many of the games listed.
Pairing the return of Essential Picks with the retire of movies and television shows should give gamers a good outlook for what lies in Sony’s future. The PlayStation Store has felt archaic and unwieldy compared to Microsoft or even Nintendo’s online store for years now. By better curating what shows up on the storefront, gamers can expect even more maintenance into improving the store experience on all fronts.
