Every Major Announcement At The Game Awards 2020

The 2020 Game Awards had a laundry list of titles announced. From new installments of beloved series to the reveal of brand new IP’s, there was no shortage of new games to get excited about at this year’s award show. But, in case you missed out on the 2020 Game Awards, we’re here to give you the details on the biggest game announcements that went down at this year’s ceremony.

Nier: Replicant ver.1.22474487139…

Earlier this year, Square Enix announced that the cult-classic from 2010, Nier, would be getting a remastered version in Nier: Replicant. During the Game Awards, we got a first look at the gameplay for the upcoming title. The game will still be an action-RPG, but judging by its looks, the gameplay has seen a major overhaul that looks more like its sequel, the critically acclaimed Nier Automata. Nier Replicant is set to release on April 23, 2021, for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Century: Age of Ashes

A free-to-play title, Century: Age of Ashes, will see players flying on dragons to take down their fellow players in this PVP multiplayer title from Playwing. The game will launch in February 2021 for the PC, though you can sign up for the game’s beta now.

Sephiroth Slices His Way Into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Cloud won’t be the only Final Fantasy character in the world of Smash Bros., as his arch-enemy, Sephiroth, will be arriving in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate later this month. Equipped with his long iconic sword, Sephiroth will slash and stab his way through his opponents (especially Mario) before transforming into his final form for his final Smash.

New Perfect Dark Game Announced

It’s been 16 years since Joanna Dark’s last adventure, but the super spy is back in a new reimagining of the Perfect Dark series. Created by The Initiative, a new studio created by Microsoft, the game is in the early stages of development and will be exclusive to Xbox and PC.

A cinematic trailer and a behind the scenes video were released at the Game Awards.

Back 4 Blood

From the creators of the Left4Dead franchise, Back 4 Blood will be a spiritual successor to Valve’s 4-Player Co-Op shooter. The game will arrive on Consoles and PC sometime in June 2021.

Hood: Outlaws and Legends

Focus Home Interactive is teaming up with Sumo Digital on a new PVP multiplayer coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC. Hood: Outlaws and Legends will arrive on May 10. If you pre-order now, you’ll get to play it on May 7.

The Callisto Protocol

From the creator of Dead Space and his new studio, Striking Distance, The Callisto Protocol will be a narrative-focus horror game that is set in the PUBG universe.

Disco Elysium Final Cut

The critical darling of 2019 is back. Disco Elysium – The Final Cut will feature improved visuals, new quests and every line of dialog will be voiced. The best part is that if you own the original, you’ll get this version for free. Disco Elysium – The Final Cut will arrive on every major system in 2021, with the PlayStation versions coming in March.

Crimson Desert

A brand new action-RPG from South Korea studio Pearl Abyss will arrive on consoles and PC in winter 2021. The Game Awards showed off brand-new gameplay for Crimson Desert that was first revealed last year.

New Mass Effect & Dragon Age Teasers

Bioware unveiled two new games in their biggest RPG franchises. First, Dragon Age 4 will continue the story of Dragon Age Inquisition.

Meanwhile, the new Mass Effect is being developed by some of the same team members who created the original Mass Effect trilogy. Rather than continue the story of Andromeda, this new game will be a direct sequel to the original series.

Ark 2

The survival action game Ark: Survival Evolved is getting a sequel. The CGI trailer features Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel as he and two tribes fought off a giant T-Rex. Additionally, a new animated series is in the works and will be a prequel to the original game.

Evil Dead The Game

Everyone’s favorite chainsaw-handed killer of the undead is back in a four-player co-op game based on the beloved Evil Dead franchise. The game will feature characters from the film trilogy and Kelly Maxwell from the Ash vs. Evil Dead series. While the trailer features dialog from Evil Dead 2, it’s unknown if Bruce Campbell will reprise his role as Ash Williams.

Returnal

Returnal is a brand-new game from developer HouseMarque that will arrive on PS5 on March 19, 2021. The game will be a third-person shooter with elements of the Rogue-like genre. The Game Awards unveiled new gameplay footage from the upcoming game.

It Takes Two

From the developer who said “F*ck The Oscars” at the 2017 Game Awards, It Takes Two will be a two-player co-op game that will release on March 26, 2021
