Fortnite’s Ironmouse Sprite Returns For Good After Early Launch Mishap

Fortnite‘s Ironmouse-themed Sprite is officially live in the battle royale as of the game’s August 4 update, closing out a rocky rollout that saw the collectible briefly appear and disappear from the game roughly a week ahead of schedule.

The Mythic-tier Sprite first surfaced on July 30 before Epic Games pulled it from circulation almost immediately, an early release the developer treated as accidental. Its return was timed deliberately this time: the item went live at 9 p.m. ET on August 4, coinciding with a livestream marking the anniversary of Ironmouse’s debut as a VTuber, the online performer whose likeness the collectible is modeled after.

Epic paired the launch with a limited window of boosted spawn odds that ran through 3 a.m. ET on August 5, giving players an extended stretch of better-than-normal odds to track one down before the rate returns to its Mythic-tier baseline.

Players hunting the Sprite can find it inside Relic Chests scattered across the map, though its Mythic rarity keeps its natural spawn rate low, listed around 2.14%, meaning multiple chests typically need to be opened before one turns up.

The item’s appeal comes down to its ability set: according to its in-game description, it regenerates health over time when a player’s health is low, while also granting Cloak and low-gravity effects during that regeneration window — a combination that’s made it one of the more sought-after Sprites currently available in the mode. Bringing Ironmouse into a match after acquiring it carries a resummon cost of 6,750 Dust, and players looking to offset that expense have been pointed toward Fortnite‘s recurring Mastery Monday event, which doubles Sprite Dust earnings for the day.

The rollout hasn’t been entirely smooth even on its second attempt. Players have reported a bug in which the Sprite fails to appear in the Collection tab despite being successfully extracted during a match, an issue that remained unresolved as of the item’s relaunch and that Epic has not yet publicly addressed.
