‘Forza Motorsport’ Fans Are Skeptical Of Promises In Turn 10 Studio’s Message To Players

Released in October 2023, Turn 10 Studio’s 13th installment of the Forza Motorsport franchise has received generally positive reviews from game critics with the game recently winning two awards in The Game Awards last month.

However, fans of the game believe the game not to be the best that the franchise has to offer.

Plagued with bugs that have caused some players to find the game’s glitches to be more entertaining than gameplay, the studio on January 10 released a message to fans regarding their plans to address these issues.

This message, written by the game’s director, Andy Beaudoin, alongside the game’s creative director, Chris Esaki, and executive producer, Trevor Laupmanis, had been split into three parts to address the areas that needed the most improvement. For their statement regarding the divisive issue of “Car Progression,” where some players have issues with the limited upgrade systems, they had vaguely stated that they are “exploring changes” to the mechanic.

They also covered that they are investigating and bug-fixing two other major areas of the game that players had reported to be bugged, the “Forza Race Regulations” as well as the “AI.” While the regulations had flagged players mistakenly for breaking the rules, the AI for the NPC drivers suddenly stopped their cars or went off the road while in races.

Upon releasing this open letter, commentators on message forums focusing on the Forza franchise had felt dissatisfied with their response, as many felt that they had not directly explained the feedback they were addressing. Many fans had felt that the message was a PR move to help cover a bugged game release, rather than a communication to concerned players.

Many gamers have compared the current situation after the initial release of CD Projekt Red’s, Cyberpunk 2077, where the game’s addressed bugs were fixed over the course of a year.
