When Will Rockstar Games Release ‘GTA VI: A Return To Vice City’? Everything We Know Right Now

Since the release of Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V in 2013, fans have been waiting for over a decade for the next main series installment of the long-running action-adventure franchise. From tweets to visits to local game retailers, gamers have been searching for new details for the upcoming sixth game. From the initial rumors of development that have made rounds since 2018, this is what we officially know about Grand Theft Auto VI so far.

The game will be following the series’ first female protagonist, Lucia, who we see in a teaser trailer released last month breaking the law, speaking to a prison warden in an interrogation room and embracing a Bonnie and Clyde-style relationship with a significant other shown frequently across promotional material for the upcoming game.

The trailer released on Rockstar’s official YouTube channel broke records by gaining almost 46 million views within 12 hours, also breaking the lifetime viewership of the previous game’s trailer, at 107 million views, within two days reaching almost 170 million views at this time.

From this trailer, we also learn that the game will take place in Leonida, the state where the Miami-inspired “Vice City” is located. Introduced in 2002 in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, players had been able to roam the fictional city in the mid-1980s with subsequent titles giving players a feel for the city in the early and late 70s. In this new title, however, fans will be able to explore a more modernized ‘neon-soaked’ Vice City that is reflective of the technological advancements of the 21st century.

As stated by Rockstar’s official site, the game is set to release in 2025 on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. There have yet to be any announcements regarding a PC port for the game, but fans are speculating that one will come after the game’s initial launch.
