Video game retailer GameStop has announced an in-store restock of the highly sought-after PlayStation 5 console.
The restock will take place at select locations in Georgia, New York and Texas on Sept. 30. GameStop’s website has launched a special page allowing users to see what locations will be taking part in the restock.
All consoles will be sold in bundles. The contents of the bundles have yet to be announced, but it will most likely increase the price from its usual $500 MSRP.
GameStop has not announced any specific times for the promotion, but most stores will most likely sell their stock at opening, meaning any interested customers might need to wake up early to snag one.
Best Buy was the last retailer to host an in-person restock of the console, which lead to people camping out for hours, and in some cases days, to be able to snag one.
This restock comes after months of online-only restocks, which have garnered complaints for being difficult to navigate, and for bots buying most of the stock. The console shortage for the PlayStation 5 is expected to last into 2022 due to a global chip shortage.
“I don’t think demand is calming down this year and even if we secure a lot more devices and produce many more units of the PlayStation 5 next year, our supply wouldn’t be able to catch up with demand,” Sony Interactive Entertainment CFO Totoki Hiroki told Bloomberg.
