After months of leaks and speculative news articles regarding the much anticipated GTA Trilogy, Rockstar Games has now released the official trailer.
Once the GTA Trilogy release date of November 11 was revealed, Rockstar quickly dropped the first official trailer for the collection and showcased the game’s improved visuals.
According to Rockstar, these improvements include a resolution upgrade, a rebuilt lighting system that will see improved weather, shadows and reflections, alongside “upgraded” character and vehicle models, as well as increased draw distance, so all three games look crisper than ever without sacrificing their original aesthetic.
Apart from the graphics, the rest of the games are getting a major overhaul to their playability. Rockstar confirmed that “new GTAV-inspired modern controls” will be part of the package, which should allow players to feel more at home in the older versions of Los Santos and Liberty City, while improvements to targeting, enhanced mini-map navigations, updated weapon and radio wheels, as well as Gyro aiming for the Nintendo Switch version of the trilogy.
Another great announcement that came with the trailer is that Xbox Game Pass members will be able to download and play, GTA San Andreas, as part of Microsoft’s subscription service starting November 11. Also, on December seven, Grand Theft Auto III – The Definitive Edition, will be available to PlayStation Now subscribers.
On top of the anniversary celebrations, Rockstar also teased what seems to be a new GTA Online expansion for this year, saying that “some well-known contacts and familiar friends need your help in expanding their “legit business” — with many more surprises soon to be revealed!”
With GTA 3 celebrating its 20th anniversary today, it’s a small surprise that Rockstar is using the date to bring us a fresh look at its remastered collection. For now, the only question that remains is if the remasters can live up to the legacy of the originals.
