Microsoft is making sure you have plenty of games to play on the Xbox Series X/S. Along with new releases like Yakuza: Like A Dragon and Gears Tactics, a laundry list of titles from the Xbox One will be optimized and upgraded to take full advantage of the Xbox system of your choice. Not only will third-party games get upgraded for the new console, but first-party titles will also take advantage of the Series X and S. One of those games will be Halo: The Master Chief Collection, a compilation of every FPS Halo game from Halo: Combat Evolved to Halo 4.
Announced on Xbox’s official Twitter account, The Master Chief Collection will include several improvements, including the jump to 120 frames-per-second, 4K split-screen and full optimization for Xbox Series X/S. The update will go live on November 17, a week after the Xbox Series X and S arrive in stores. Xbox has not mentioned if either Halo 5 or Halo Wars II would receive the same treatment. With Halo Infinite delayed to 2021, this will be the closest thing Xbox owners will get to a Halo fix.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection was first released on November 11, 2014, launching with Halo 1 – 4. Halo 3 ODST and Halo: Reach were added as DLC.
