Helldivers 2 is welcoming the chaos with its latest premium Warbond Siege Breakers, which ramps up the game’s already noisy, chaotic destruction.
The new CQC-20 Breaching Hammer is a melee weapon that can also explode like a bomb. You can swing it like any normal hammer, but when charged, it can blow through any door, making it one of the game’s most savage gadgets.
Sean Martin, Senior Guides Writer for Yahoo Tech, called the Breaching Hammer “a strong option at the highest difficulty,” adding that “it’s also ridiculously fun, sprinting into Automaton bases, diving between laser fire as you explode enemy after enemy.”
Siege Breakers is the next Warbond update, which will continue Helldivers 2’s annual updates. The update launched on Feb. 3 and can be paid for in Super Credits, which can be earned by completing in-game missions or purchased.
The hammer isn’t the only tool that comes with the new Siege Breakers. The other new weapons include a revamped LAS-16 Trident, a shotgun-type laser rifle; a GL-28 belt-fed grenade launcher, which lets you shoot out explosives; an EAT-411 Leveller for anti-armor shots; and a G/SH-39, a projectile shield-blocking bubble.
On the defensive side, Helldivers 2 is introducing two new armor sets: the SA-7 Headfirst and the SA-8 Ram. These two new sets reward you for taking damage, turning you into a type of “battering ram” prototype. Some other unlockables include capes, banners, patterns/skins, and emotes to let the player fully embrace their inner siege-breaker.
Siege Breakers is just the start of Helldivers 2’s long-term goal. Arrowhead described Siege Breakers in a PlayStation Blog post as the answer for squads facing “a towering foe with impenetrable fortifications” and “needing something to smash through them.” Helldivers 2 is an evolving sandbox game that keeps the chaos coming with chaotic weapons and fresh updates.
