‘Indiana Jones And The Great Circle’ Will Make Your Adventurer Dreams A Reality

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle just released on Dec. 9 for Xbox and PC, and so far it is exceeding fans’ expectations.

Prior to the release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, many fans were skeptical about the game. First off, it’s the first Indiana Jones game to be released in quite some time, which made it difficult for fans to know what to expect. To make things more uncertain, it was revealed that this game would be played from a first-person point of view, which had never before been the case with an Indiana Jones game. For many fans, the thought of playing an action-packed adventure game as Indy through first-person gameplay just felt… off. But to the relief of many, the first-person POV works beautifully, and the game itself is a real treat.

The story of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle takes place in 1937, between the Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade films, so it is uniquely its own and is not based on any film in particular. However, since it takes place after Raiders of the Lost Ark, the game opens with some iconic scenes of the film, such as the classic moment where Indy outruns the boulder. Beyond this moment, the game becomes its own story with few fan-servicey moments as it offers a suspenseful adventure for players no matter how familiar they are with the franchise.

The gameplay itself is extremely immersive and proves rather quickly that making a first-person Indiana Jones game was, in fact, a great idea. Rather than feeling like every other third-person adventure game like Tomb Raider or Uncharted, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle puts you right into Indy’s boots and gives you the chance to adventure and outsmart bad guys, just like the world’s coolest archeologist himself.

On top of this – and what makes this game so uniquely its own – is the fact that you truly get to choose your own adventure in this game. Of course, there is a main story and side quest to follow, but how you decide to reach your goal is completely up to you. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle gives you the freedom to utilize any weapon or object to your advantage however you choose. Use your whip to disarm enemies, swing across obstacles or solve puzzles. Use a glass bottle to distract your enemies (or accidentally alert them if you’re not careful). Many objects you encounter can be used as melee weapons or to open locked chests. In this game, you can make up the rules as you go as you can explore tons of different avenues to sneak, fight, and puzzle-solve your way through the game.

So if foiling the evil plans of a Nazi archeologist as young Harrison Ford in an entirely fresh and exciting Indiana Jones story sounds like your cup of tea, you’ll definitely want to give this game a spin.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is currently available on PC and Xbox, and it plans to launch on PS5 in Spring 2025.
